Growing up

So as I sit here on this long weekend, I wonder where all the time went!? I had a lot planned to do this 4 day weekend, and all I did was family time. Priorities!
Oh I did hand stitch a hem around a quilt square and sewed it over the torn square on Baylin's blanket. That was fun and rewarding because Baylin was so excited about his super momma fixing his favorite blanket! I'm a super-momma!

Baylin can now build a robot with his MegaBlox faster than I can and they are so cool! They have arms and feet (sometimes rocket feet!) and hidden guns that only appear when you want them to. He makes little ones that are baby robots, and then he adds more to the legs, because "he grew up". He told me just this morning that I was the momma to this baby robot. I told him I was pretty sure I would remember having a baby like that. His response was the best: "He just has different colored skin. You can love him too!" You are right buddy. My kid is awesome!
He can officially draw anything he decides to draw, and you don't even have to ask him to tell you about it so you can decifer what it is. We have come a long way from the stick figures in March and the advanced stick figures with bodies in May. :-)
Just the other day we were driving down the road and Baylin says he saw a dead dog. I was sad for him and told him it was gone. Seems it was not gone because it was a cloud in the shape of a dog laying down! I am still not sure why it had to be a dead dog, but it is pretty cool that he came up with that all on his own! And it did look like a dog.

Gunner has been talking up a storm! He has conversations with you, talks back (grrrr), and makes his toys talk now. He has embraced the terrible twos and made them his own! We constantly have a little boy throwing himself to the floor...most of the time hitting his head... and laying there anywhere from 1 to 30 minutes. Most of the time I ignore him, but at the end of the day he starts to get in trouble if he has done it too many times.
He inherited a lot of character traits from me. He is the uncoordinated one and just when we get a scratch (usually on the face) or a bruise healed, he trips or does something to get another one! He is sweet like me, always one to give hugs, kisses, and cuddle time. And he sleeps like me, getting crabby at his blankets and can sleep anywhere! Oh and we have the same tickle spots... a dangerous thing in this house!

They have been playing really well together and LOVE to wrestle. Most of the time what seems like it would be too rough for Gunner, just makes him laugh even more. Baylin doesn't always understand the humor of a 2 year old and gets upset when Gunner teases him. It is really difficult to get Baylin to understand that Gunner is just trying to get him to play and pay attention to him! Overall, they play well together and apart.

The boys, like their daddy, have become real movie fans. They will sit through movie after movie if we let them. At the end of a long hard week, this isn't such a bad thing. Lol! We will often sit down as a family and watch a movie together, usually something not age appropriate but still fun to watch. They love Jurassic Park. I am still not sure if this is a good choice for them being so young, but they don't seem to be negatively affected by it. And they are obsessed with dinosaurs so it was super-cool to see them "alive" like that.

I am off...I have to go play with my kids!
