Don't ask me how it happened...

Because I would not be able to tell you. We were going to the park and were walking out to the car. I was carrying Gunner and Baylin was holding onto my finger with that really good grip that he has. We were halfway to the car (it is 105 yards, I measured it) and I fell. Yup, you read that correctly, I fell down. Carrying my baby and a 2 year old with the super-grip I slipped off the sidewalk, pulled the kid straight down with me flat on his stomach on the sidewalk. I have no idea how, but Gunner did not even touch the ground. I sure did though, and it HURT! It still does.
Gunner whimpered for like a second, Baylin started to cry, got up looked at me and once he saw the look on my face, says MAMA! and gives me a hug. I went over his potential injuries first: little knees were red, arms were fine, nothing on the belly, and his face was a angelic as ever. Check. Then Gunner: all over and nothing, not even a blade of grass. Check check.
In knowing that my boys were fine, here I am sitting on the ground holding these boys and all I feel is pain. Well I cannot cry because that would freak them out, so I assessed myself quickly (Baylin even helped pull up my pant leg) and nothing was bleeding, so we got up and carried on with our journey. When we got in the car Baylin found his phone and told the caller that he fell down. It made me smile. We went to the park and everyone had a good time.
I come hobbling home with a sore knee and a twisted ankle, telling scary tales of almost breaking my children, thankful that everyone is okay. Mama is just a little bruised and Baylin did end up with a scrape on his arm.

And then within 15 minutes of being home..........get this......... I stub my toe and I broke it! It's all purple and throbbing up to my ankle.

I give up!

Oh Niki, I am sorry. I have been there, falling while holding the baby, it is very scary. I have also broken toes...but never both in the same day...you need a break (LOL...besides the toe)

When C was a hip hugger, I was carrying him down my sewing room stairs. Suddenly. I saw his head bounce off the ground. Realizing that I had fallen down the stairs while carrying him,I too did the "check this, theck this." He was fine-- I was not. I had broken my ankle. I Then had to figure out how to get into the house with a scared baby and one leg. Did it. Doc said it was a good think I did not realize I was falling, or I would have pulled C in front of me to protect him and would have landed full force on him. As it was he was on my hip, so he fell to the side. Good thng babies are tough.

If you didn't have bad luck, you would have no luck at all. I hope you heal quickly. Glad the boys were okay.

Love you.

So, just saw this too. Is your toe really broken? Here's a story - when we lived in the Coburn house, your Dad was carrying you and something else - both hands full. So, rather than open the gate, he decided to straddle the picket fence in the back yard. He caught a picket in the crotch and fell to the other side. You hit the ground pretty hard - had a huge goose egg on your forehead. Moral of the story - since I am willing to get that you don't remember this, don't worry. Kids don't remember.
