A vistor

Yesterday morning, while the whole house was sound asleep (and most of Phoenix too), I was getting ready for work. At 4:55am I am washing bottles and cups. I turn on the water in the sink and something moves and it was really big for a bug, about an inch long!!! I almost screamed, but I sucked it up and grabbed the Ant& Roach spray (see one of my first posts), thinking "not in my house you disgusting mutant bug!" I looked in the sink to find it's location and to my surprise, it was not a bug at all. This thing had a tail!

So now what do I do with it and how in the world did it get in my kitchen sink?
Knowing that it would not hurt me helped... but you all know how I feel about creepy-crawlies...eeewwwwww. So I grab the nearest container I had... a baby bottle, and even though it took a minute, I caught it! I was thinking that this could be Baylin's first pet, but he is way too little and I don't have a container, gotta get to work, etc. So I let it go, but not before I took a few pictures!

OK, so there I was in the shower (naked of course) without my glasses on, and something by my feet moved. Oh, crud. Another spider. I hate spiders. But he seemed bigger than a spider, so being without my glasses, I leaned WAAAAYYY down to check him out. IT WAS A SCORPION. Right there, inches from my face. So then I start screaming and R had to come rescue my naked self!!! I wish creepy crawlies didn't come in the house.

We have been blessed to not have those yet! They are everywhere though.
I would shower with my glasses on from that point on!

You guys can keep your wildlife to yourself. I have had salamanders in my cellar, skunks in the back yard and bull snakes trying to keep me from coming in my door. That was in years past. No surprises so far this year.

I am really going to miss living on the second floor. We have been pretty much bug free for that last 4 years. We will be back at ground level soon and they have bugs here that I have never seen before - I would not know if one were poisonous or not!

Those were great stories. Glad it wasn't me! J and little J enjoyed them too. So, are you going to keep the lizard for a pet? Your boys are the cutest! It is a good thing the Cheatham blood line is full of good blood or we would be stuck with some ugly babies!!!

In your sink!! Silly little guy. Well, at least he didn't bite. :)

:-) to answer the Halls... no I did not keep him. Maybe if I had time to look him up online to see how big he gets, what he eats, etc, and this happened in the middle of the day I would have given it a second thought. But on my way out the door for work I turned him lose. He was very grateful.
AND CLCPHD, you need to get a book of local critters so you know! Can't have SR picking up a cute fuzzy thing only to find out it is a gremlin!
