The great battle begins

So I went to the OB/GYN on Monday for my normal... well, you know. I about fell over when I saw what the scale said. I have gained 18 pounds since April and I was not in any position to gain more weight! Holy CRAP! I made up my mind that day to do something about it.

I had another appointment on Friday and was curious to get on that scale. Being that I had just decided to watch what I was eating, portion my food, and cut some calories out, I was not expecting much, but I was down 3.5 pounds since Monday! This was at the same time of the day, same weight of clothes, etc. This was such a huge motivator for me.

I have found a great website www.livestrong.com then click on Daily Plate that is FREE and allows me to enter the food that I eat, tells me how many calories I have eaten, and adjusts for ANY activity done during the day, even just sitting at my desk. The good thing about the website is that I actually see what is happening now. For some reason in all my 32+ years I have never realized that if I eat less than I burn just by BEING ALIVE I may lose weight...and then add exercise on top of that, even if it is just walking... BAM! I am losing weight! What the heck?? I am an idiot.

I am keeping it at 1400 calories a day until I feel better about doing this and not wanting to steal everyone's food, then I may lower it to the 1000 calories a day that my Dr recommended.

I will be sure to keep this updated. I am not sure if I trust my scale to give my actual weight, but it is consistent so at least I will be able to see # of pounds lost. I am super excited about this!

YAY!

Good for you!!! Keep up the resolve. You will feel better I am sure.

I have lost weight the past month but it is because I have been coughing so much and not eating.

Good luck!!!!

I think it is great that you are losing so quickly!!! I have an entire "cookbook" I made with lower calorie recipes, call me if you want any of them...they are the type where you can eat a lot but still keep within your daily calorie limits :)...for some reason I just keep gaining weight...LOL
