Teething or Fits or ???

Oy it has been a looong week. On top of crazy changes at work (where instead of me being in charge of 11 reps, I am now in charge of 82!! OH MY!) Gunner has been quite the handful.

Brady called me at work Friday because Gunner had been screaming uncontrollably for over an hour and he needed to vent his frustration and get suggestions. Soon after we hung up all was well, Brady fed him even though he had just eaten an hour before and he fell asleep halfway through the bottle.
Then Saturday he did the same thing, screaming crying and carrying on...seemingly for no reason. When I got home I got to witness it too. This is a different cry, starts out sad for like 5 seconds and then just screaming that high-pitched screech that he is so famous for that makes you want to cut your ears off. It does not matter what you do to him to try to help, he will not calm down.
We have given him Baby Orajel because he is drooling like crazy and angrily gnawing on his fists, toys, our fingers, blankets, pretty much anything he can shove in his mouth. We have changed him, rocked him, sang to him, laughed at him, set him down, given him toys, taken his toys away, turned off all noisy things and sent Baylin to his room, yelled to get his attention, put him in a room by himself (mainly as a parent-regrouping break), fed him, and swaddled him. Of course, that was not all at once. This has been going on for 3 days. NOTHING works. So far the only thing that will snap him out of it even if just for a minute was laying him on the bedroom floor under the ceiling fan...he was mesmerized...ONCE.
This is normally a very agreeable baby and very easily consolable when something was wrong and he did cry. Now nothing seems to work!

I think it is teething...or he may just be really mad that Mommy has left him. If it is teething, I cannot go through months of this!
Any thoughts?

He is about the age where babies go through a growth spurt (around 3-4 months). They will start nursing like crazy to get their milk supplies up to where they need them to support their new growth. Even if he has just eaten, always try feeding him as a first strategy.

Aside from that - he hasn't had more formula than usual has he (as opposed to breastmilk)?

I thought he had his growth spurt right before I went back to work. he was nursing EVERY hour for two days. UHG>
The only time he had more formula was the one bottle a day when I was trying to get milk stored for my first day at work. Then he had one bottle on Friday and one on Saturday because Brady was out of milk and needed to try to fix this problem.

Hopefully this stage won't last long. Years ago when I couldn't get Bob (my first) to quit crying I started feeding him pablum (nasty cereal stuff). That helped. The doctor didn't approve, but I did it anyway. Good luck. Love you guys.
